Tina Turner

Tina Turner was born in Tennessee on November 26, 1939.She was named Anna Mae Bullock.She was a daughter to Floyd and Zelma Bullock .She has an experience of almost 50 years in the music business.She and her sisters were abandoned children by their parents and then it was her grandparents who raised the children.She started her musical career in the mid 1950 as a featured singer with Ike Turner’s Kings of Rhythms.”A Fool in Love” was an immediate success and was released in July 1960.She visited St. Louis and Club Manhattan nightclubs where she met her future husband Ike Turner.They got married in Mexico.”Let’s Stay Together”in 1983,the European release of her cover of Al Green’s was a turning point in her career.It hit record no.6 in the British charts.She got nominated in the rock,R&B and pop categories at the 1985 Grammy awards and was rewarded with four trophies.


  • Turner won 8 Grammy Awards, including 4 for her breakthrough album ‘Private Dancer’, one of it for the hit single ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It’. She won another Grammy for the soundtrack of ‘Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome’.
  • Turner is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and her recordings, ‘River Deep – Mountain High’, ‘Proud Mary’ and ‘What's Love Got to Do with It’ are in the Grammy Hall of Fame.
