Leslie Caron was born in Boulogne Billancourt,Seine ;now called Hauts-de-Seine,France on July 1,1931.She was the daughter to Margaret Petit,an American dancer and French chemist,Claude Caron. Her performances gained attention from the press. She has appeared on the cover page of vogue and has even gone to England for a screen test .She called herself a “drowning cat”and was not succesfull in the test. She was thankful to God for being refused by everybody and getting a chance to be a part of the film called The Black Rose(1950) by Henry Hathaway.
She describes her life in Hollywood as highly managed and regimented where everything is at its place and has a place for everything .She describes the experience as a well organized and put together. Not wanting to keep the stars who were on salary idle, the studio immediately put her into The Man in the Cloak (1951) with Barbara Stanwyck and Joseph Cotten, following production of An American in Paris . Post the film, she turned back to dance in Sleeping Beauty with Roland Petit.
