Leon Collins

Leon Collins was born on February 7,1922 and he was an American Tap dancer in Chicago,Illinois.He started dancing at an early age  and he has worked professionally with several groups,with big brands such as Jimmie Lunceford,with partners until the 1960 when tap dancing faded.At the request of people like Tina Pratt and Stanley Brown he began to teach.He along with Boston’s First Lady of Jazz,Mae Arnette opened up a studio.He also opened a company with his students and the pianist named Joan Hill.They performed in New England  from 1982.He did a bit in movies too and is known for exceptional dance .He is remembered for his work with jazz and bebop and later he worked in classical music as well,”Flight of the Bumblebee”.A documentary by David Wads worth named :”Songs Unwritten”reflected his life and was released after his death.
