Joe Frisco

Joe Frisco was born on November 4,1889 and was an American performer initially introduced on stage as a jazz dancer.His real name was Louis Wilson Joseph in Milan,Illinois.Later he became a popular comedian of his time.His Broadway debut was in the Florenz Ziegfeld Follies in 1918.His jazz dance act which was also called by some as the “Jeish Charleston”.it was series of camel walks and turns and shuffles.He used to carry a cigar while he danced and a derby hat was typically wore by him and the women behind him used to wear leotards,bowler hats and short jackets.He used to stutter but he could well recite scripted dialogues without any disturbance.He also worked in Hollywood movies in the 1940s where he gave appearances in various low budget and some forgettable movies.He was referred in The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald,the writer in a dialogue of the film.
