Howard Sims

Howard Sims or Howard “Sandman”Sims  was born on January 24,1917 and he was an African-American tap dancer who stated with his career in Vaudeville.He was very well skilled in a form of dance that he used to perform in a wooden sandbox which he constructed and he acquired his nick name from the sand that he used to sprinkle to change and amplify the sound of his dance steps .He was involved in Hoofers Club of New York city which was a venue primarily for Black Tap dancers. He also served as a cultural ambassador representing United States with dancers around the globe .In a review which was based on his life,New York Times critic Anna Kissoff called him a virtuoso among virtuoso's which means he was a class to himself.
