History of Belly Dance Detail

The history of belly dance is a debated topic among enthusiasts of belly dancing which had led to many conflicting theories.It has many origins as it comprises of a mixture of various dance styles.It is believed by many experts that belly dance is one of the oldest forms of dance.Some believe that is passed on from early Egyptian dances or from migration of Gypsies from India while some believe that it began as a traditional birth practice to ease the pain of childbirth.It is believed that it came first to America in 1893 when a dancer called “Little Egypt”performed at Chicago’s World Fair.The term comes from a French term “danse du ventre” that means “dance of the stomach”Americans call it ancient form as “belly dance”.Today it is enjoyed throughout the wold and is taught in almost every country.
