Frankie Manning

Frankie Manning was born on 26 May,1914 and he was an American  dancer,choreographer and instructor and he is considered to be one of the founding fathers of Lindy Hop.At the age of three he moved to Harlem with his mother who was also a dancer after the separation of his mother and father.He was influenced when his mother sent him  to spend summers in Alken. He went to Harlem’s Savoy Ballroom when he was older for better dancers and which was the only integrated ballroom in New York.In his early days of swing dancing he was popular for his moves and his dance routines.Frankie Manning has co choreographed the Broadway Musical Black and Blue and he received a 1989 Tony awards for that.He was a recipient of a National Endowment for the arts National heritage fellowship.He had his autobiography by the name of Frankie Manning:Ambassador of Lindy Hop.
